Kubota Garden

Kubota Garden is a Japanese style garden located in the Rainier Beach neighborhood. We arrived at about 4pm or so on a Saturday. Soon after, my dad split off, leaving my younger sister and I to roam the vast landscape. It was a little dark already, so some parts looked real dead to the camera, but some sunlight was still penetrating the tree line.

The trees at the highest point were a brilliant gold, and very beautiful. The sky was blue, and I swear, some pictures came out great, with a rich, deep blue sky.

A series of small bridges provided the perfect opportunity for reflection shots. This one is quite poor.

That tripod has been around the world. We have shot tons of videos and pictures with it. Quite a horse.

Not saying much, but I like it for the contrast.

On the way home, my dad decided to stop along Lake Washington Boulevard just as the sun was setting. We stopped by a small park.

Having no tripod, I was unable to do a good HDR, so I just decided to do this.

More HDR

Here are two more HDR attempts. One is from a play location along Lake Washington Boulevard, the other, at the Main pond in the Kubota Garden.

Interesting story. While happily snapping away in the garden, I heard something that sounded awful like a gunshot. I thought to myself, "its probably some fool smashing something." This was in Rainier Beach, so I had a lingering suspicion that It was a gun.

Couple of seconds passed by, and suddenly, many more gunshots ring out, about 7. Sounded like a semi auto. I was intrigued. What kind of fool would open fire around here? Shortly after, I hear the wail of several police cars, all getting closer and louder. As my sister and I move towards the front of the park, the direction where the sound came from, the sirens went silent. No clue, still.

Onto HDR.

Here is the main pond. My sister is standing towards the middle of the picture.

I swear I have no idea what happened here. Its cool if you ignore all the flaws.
