Summer Band Camp II, The End.

Today was the official end of Summer Band camp. The band gathered before 6, and went onto the field to show parents and some alumni of the program what they had been working on thus far. I must say, there is some cool stuff going on field; some drum-corps-esque moments.

But..they don't move....

Summer Band Camp I

Opening day of summer band camp at Newport High School is an exciting and terrifying experience, from what I can muster. I was unfortunate that during my freshman year, I fell "through the cracks", and didn't know of practices during the summer, so missed the ritual of washing Big Red (our band bus), as well as learning to march, and learning my charts. It was rough.

Anyways. Here are just a few pictures from the first day, where freshmen and rank leaders get together.

In this image, person I do not know, person I do not know, person I do not know, person I do not know, person I do not know, Nick Eisenhauer, person I do not know.

They all met in the New theater, and had a quick explanation of band, and what the season would be like.

The secret to winning in Duck-Duck-Goose is to watch the person who is touching your head. If they accelerate when they approach you, then they will like touch someone very soon.

Grand Camping

On August 8th, a group of Seattle Area Hikers called the zHikers put together a camping trip in the Chelan Area. We stayed at the Daroga State Park. We enjoyed much rain in the morning, but soon, the clouds cleared, and we were able to enjoy the swimming, hiking, power boating, and biking in the area.

An interesting story. I was riding a jet-ski with two other children, and somehow, we capsized. I clambered back on board, and attempted to pilot the vehicle, but it once again, rolled, and i jumped off the opposite side to keep it from rolling completely. In total, i fell into Lake Chelan thrice.

It was also quite windy, so the last night there, everybody had to retreat from the lake's edge, and move closer inward to avoid being blown away at night.

See?

Blue Angels

My father and I decided to go attempt to shoot the Blue Angels. We departed for the I90 floating bride at about 10. Sadly, as we were unable to get past the segment of I90 connecting Bellevue and Mercer Island, we retreated to the Newcastle Golf Course, a good distance away, so we were unable to get excellent shots of the performance. However, we did get some shots of our surroundings. People from all over came to enjoy the view and bask in the warm sun.

Apparently we crashed the Course on the day of a wedding.
